The Castle of Nea Epidaurus: A hamlet which was restored during the Byzantine period. Walking through the narrow alleys and courtyards of the houses, you will reach the Byzantine Castle of New Epidaurus. In 1205, it fell into the hands of the Venetians who perfected their fortifications with bastions, towers and fortresses to protect themselves against pirate raids. The Byzantine castle still stands semi-ruined on the steep cliff on the north side of the town.
