For nature lovers Agistri is an ideal destination. In the spring the idyllic Limni fills with numerous species of birds. You must definitely make the tour of the island with a traditional wooden boat, and you will discover the sea caves, the indented coasts and exotic beaches of Agistri. You may also take a local boat and enjoy a boat trip to the nearby island of Aegina (10' trip) or take a yacht or speedboat for an adventurous expedition to nearby islands, such as Metopi, Moni, Kyra, Spalathonisi and Dorousa.
At the exotic island of Agistri you will discover lots of coves and creeks, where you may indulge in numerous water sports, such as swimming, windsurfing and water skiing. The rocky bottom in many parts of the island is ideal for spear fishing and diving.
The island is a paradise for hiking and cycling lovers. If you love hiking, you will enjoy walking on the numerous beautiful verdant trails through the magnificent forest of the island; you may also go from one village to another on foot, since the distance between them is very small. In the afternoons, you may go horse riding or take a ride on carriage at the Equestrian Center in Megalochori («Agistri Horse Riding & Carriage», tel. 6944 576333) and, if you are experienced riders, you may explore the mountains of Agistri on horseback.
For the romantic among you, the picturesque Megalochori is ideal for walks on its beautiful alleys, while the villages Metochi and Skliri are quite impressive with their dense vegetation and breathtaking view. Aponisos will leave you breathless with its enchanting sunset. You should also take the tourist train to tour around the island’s beaches.
Finally, don’t forget to visit the important churches of the island: Zoodochos Pigi (the island’s Cathedral) in Megalochori, Agioi Anargyroi in Skala, Agia Kyriaki in Limenaria, Panagia in Metochi with its incredible view, and the chapels of Agioi Pantes (All Saints) and Agioi Theodoroi outside Megalochori.
