The Acropolis (citadel) of Candia: Its remains are on the hill of Agia Eleousa; they date from the Mycenaean era, thus indicating that the region has been populated since antiquity. On the northwest of the citadel, near the Lykotroupi area, on top of the hill, there’s a prehistoric settlement, considered to be none other than the small Mycenaean city of Heioni, reported in Iliad.
